Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Civil CAD/BIM Manager to join our team! In this role you will get to manage the CAD/BIM team in Western Canada.

The CAD/BIM Group Lead is responsible for supervising all discipline design/drafting personnel on traditional and complex projects. The CAD/BIM Group Lead will be responsible for managing the team's workload, ensuring that deadlines are met, and maintaining quality standards.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Defines discipline design organization and participation in a project, including execution of discipline work involving design approach, schedules, standards, budgets, and procedures to meet client scope of work requirements.

  • Provide management/supervision for up to 30 CAD team members including performance evaluations, ongoing support and communications

  • Makes staffing assignments and monitors productivity and technical proficiency of the assigned personnel. Reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed and that quality is acceptable.

  • Applies and ensures that applicable regulatory requirements are being met and followed

  • Provides training and development, conducts performance evaluations, and takes corrective action as necessary. May make recommendations for salary increases and/or promotions.

  • Advises engineering and project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, progress slippage, scope changes, budget overruns, or other events that could negatively affect project completion or profitability.

  • Provides design support, making decisions, or obtaining technical staff assistance when necessary. Recommends design methods of equipment use for discipline standards. Oversees the application of state-of-the-art technology in the design area and recommends improvements to production methods. Responsible for the progress quality of drawings produced by those supervised.

  • Ensures that checking is performed by discipline checking policy and procedures.

  • Coordinates discipline design work with project staff and engineering disciplines.

  • Initiates and reviews change order requests for additions deletions or changes to the original scope of work.

  • Actively participates in the company Quality Improvement Process (QIP).

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

In addition to the above responsibilities related to CAD/BIM modeling:

  • Follow, introduce, and engage in the development of training programs for the innovative tools used by the industry

  • Supervise all CAD/BIM modeling activities within the group

  • Perform supervisory duties to team and projects

  • Ensure that all CAD/BIM models meet quality standards

  • Provide guidance on best practices related to CAD/3D modeling

  • Develop training programs for new hires or existing employees who need additional training in specific areas related to CAD/BIM modeling

Education/Experience:

  • A technical degree or certificate of completion in CAD design from an accredited technical institution (or equivalent) is preferred.

  • 12 years experience in supervisory roles within a similar industry.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Requirements include strong PC skills specifically related to CAD software such as SolidWorks, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Open Roads and/or AutoCAD along with knowledge of capabilities & efficiencies utilizing specific computer software tools such as KeyShot etc.

  • Excellent written & oral communication skills

  • Proven ability to perform supervisory duties on projects involving both drafting & 3D modeling tasks.

Salary Range:

$99,600 - $185,100
