SUNY Upstate Medical University Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the direct oversight of various business services functions which support the entire University, including Upstate University Hospital, and including both State and Research Foundation transactions and activities, to include Payroll Services, Accounts Payable and Travel, Contracts and Campus Purchasing, and potentially other departments. This position will also be responsible for exploring shared service opportunities with other SUNY campus and other partners to respond to SUNY's shared services initiative. Lastly, the position will also provide support to the SVP for Finance and Administration in other areas, including but not limited to facilities and capital planning, property development, and affiliated entities.

Supervise business service functions to include Payroll Services, Accounts Payable & Travel, Contracts and Campus Purchasing, with the potential for addition departments in the future.

Complete departmental budget requests and monitor monthly budget reports.

Establishes policies and procedures relative to business area.

Assist with ongoing efforts to improve the business process in each of the departments and help the departments identify opportunities, implement changes, and support State and Research Foundation initiatives, including improving M/WBE performance, contract process improvements, and SUNY shared service initiatives.

Promote client/user engagement on issues pertaining to the promotion and understanding of shared business departmental functions.

Prepare ad-hoc reports for various end-users.

Participation on committees, as assigned, and provide various business advisory and analysis support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (Business, Accounting or related field) Minimum of 7 years of progressive professional experience supervising or directing activities of finance and business related departments (Payroll, Accounts Payable, Contracts and Purchasing), preferably in the public sector, including SUNY.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong leadership, project management, analytical, computer, organizational, supervisory, and communication skills required, including ability to work effectively with all levels of administration. Ability to comprehend and interpret complicated rules and regulations.

Monday-Friday, days
