Operations Manager
The role of the Operations Manager is to ensure profitable and efficient delivery of quality fire protection sprinkler systems through proactive management of a contract department. Responsible to plan and direct the accomplishment of department objectives, as well as perform a wide variety of duties required to maintain the efficient, day to day operations of a department within a specific branch office. The operations manager is responsible for all aspects of contract projects from the initial sale through completion of work.
Job Responsibilities
Organize personnel to accomplish goals efficiently; prioritize and focus work efforts as required, and assist in the recruitment of additional personnel as required
Monitor progress of projects, confer with project managers, and review reports to ensure progression according to schedule and budgetary guidelines/forecasts
Conduct monthly cost to complete meetings providing specific written summary information to Area Manager
Responsible for financial aspects of all projects, including margin, collections, and cash flow
Manage Sales reps and sales plan to meet or exceed sales goals
Manage all project activities from design through completed installation
Ensure the proper handoff of project information throughout project life cycle
Responsible for the technical correctness of reports and proposals
Advise project managers on technical project issues
Ensure company safety guidelines are followed on all projects and tasks
Consult with management to identify, plan, and develop methods to continually obtain greater efficiency and improve business processes
Make certain all departments maintain historical records of activities for future use
Direct, assist, instruct, check, follow-up, and perform manager assigned responsibilities to maximize effectiveness and attain office objectives
Review workflow and reassign responsibilities based on anticipated workloads
Develop and review quotes and proposals for prospective work.
Build relationships with GC’s, end users, and AHJ’s to help drive quality business to the branch
Coach and mentor, the division managers in the branch to help them build both technical and business acumen
Develop reporting personnel to ensure growth and continued success of organization
Responsible for directing, motivating, developing, evaluating and reviewing subordinates work.
Managing staff, preparing work schedules, and assigning projects and duties
Monitoring and controlling resources used by subordinates.
Interview and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes.
Ensure all outgoing mail is either picked up by the mail courier or that it is taken to the nearest USPS.
Ensure that all FedEx, UPS, DHL, or other courier packages are picked up or dropped off for timely delivery of documents.
Distribute all incoming mail and faxes to appropriate personnel.
Answer incoming calls if receptionist is not available.
Place and monitor new employee job advertisements
Prepare information for payroll. New employee set up and filings.
Provide other support whether apparent, required or needed.
Complete additional projects as developed and assigned by your supervisor or management.
Job Qualifications
Strong knowledge of the Fire Protection Industry; Fire Protection Construction knowledge is required
Experience in project management, design, and/or sales is required
Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University; or three years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Confirmed ability to understand the technical and financial aspects of the position
NICET certification a plus
Ability to review, analyze and discuss financial information with regards to branch operation
Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team to accomplish goals
Good and effective verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background and reference check

Proficiency in various computer programs and Microsoft Office software programs.
