Chemical Operator

The Chemical Operator works collaboratively within a team to operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot various plant processes. They hold accountability for all plant systems during their shift, conducting in-process analyses to maintain operational standards. With access to analytical tools, they make necessary process adjustments to guarantee high-quality outputs while prioritizing safety for all stakeholders. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on shaping a more sustainable future.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day operations of a continuously running production line, including sampling, forklift driving, and performing actions on Ignition and other HMIs.
  • Remedy unsafe conditions when found, e.g., tripping hazards and spills, and report conditions where immediate action cannot be accomplished.
  • Work in a team environment to start-up, shut down, monitor, inspect, operate, and adjust plant equipment while meeting customer expectations.
  • Monitor and analyze plant parameters including temperature, pressure, pH, and flow to promptly address process deviations, ensuring product specifications and safety standards are upheld.
  • Operate production equipment including, but not limited to, holding tanks, centrifugal pumps, leaf filters, heat exchangers, electrodeposition machines, metering pumps, wastewater treatment systems, utility manifolds, centrifuges, filter presses, kilns, bulk material conveyance, evaporators, crystallizers, and logistical equipment.
  • Perform routine product samples to submit for analysis and verify results are within expected parameters.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure instructions are executed and communicated effectively across shifts.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or process operations, preferably in a chemical environment.

  • Comfortable working with hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

  • Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in navigating complex HMIs for troubleshooting and equipment operation.

  • Familiarity with hazardous materials; Hazwoper certification or ability to obtain.

  • Capable of operating large manufacturing equipment in chemical environments

  • Able to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), twisting, climbing, standing, and walking within multi-level buildings

  • Adaptable to varying temperatures and willing to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances

  • Willingness to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators and chemical suits

Shifts Available:

  • Sunday through Tuesdayand every other Wednesday, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am (10% shift differential)
  • Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am (15% shift differential)

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
