This position allows you to make a positive impact in the lives of others in a direct patient care role. This is a great entry level position,giving hands on patient care experience,even while pursuing careers in nursing, psychology, social work,and other avenues of mental health.  Psych Techs provide care for individuals with mental illness and must be willing and able to act as an integral part of the patient's treatment team,working with nurses,psychiatrists,and social workers to ensure the patient is receiving top rate care. It is the responsibility of the Psych Tech to follow patient treatment plans and prescribed behavioral programs while acting as a mentor and caregiver for our patients. * * *The Ideal Candidate * The ideal candidate for this position is a helpful,positive,capable,and empathetic individual who is eager to provide the highest quality direct care services to patients at the Utah State Hospital{target="_blank"}.    *At minimum,this p erson must be able to  *

• Assist people in a manner which shows sensitivity,tact,and professionalism
• Observe the environment,paying attention to changes in safety,inappropriate activity,or potential behavioral issues,then respond appropriately
• MUST be available to work weekends and holidays. (shift differentials may apply)
• MUST be available to attend new employee orientation 8 AM - 5 PM (9 days)
