The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

As an integral HR Information Systems (HRIS) team member, the Analyst plays a key role in managing the operations and reporting of the Time and Labor Absence Management (TLAM) module in PeopleSoft. Reporting to the Absence Management Manager, the Analyst will bring a passion for data analytics and champion the tool's data integrity to guarantee employees leverage the university's robust time-off benefits.

Columbia University Human Resources (CUHR) provides quality service to develop, manage, and support the University's vibrant community of faculty and administrators. The Human Resources Processing Center (HRPC) processes over 75 million transactions across 90 different payroll functions and cycles, maintaining the accuracy of records for a workforce of more than 15,000 employees.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the operations and reporting of the Time and Labor Absence Management (TLAM) module in PeopleSoft.
  • Conduct data analysis, produce standard and ad-hoc reports, and independently complete various system management tasks.
  • Serve as the point of contact for TLAM issues, specifically absences, reported through ServiceNow tickets, working to review and resolve promptly.
  • Support departmental time administrators, supervisors, and managers in troubleshooting TLAM issues.
  • Partner with Payroll, Benefits, and other HRPC managers to assist the HR Service Center Analysts in responding to employee questions accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with schools and departments across all campuses to ensure payroll and attendance data is entered accurately and timely into the system for payroll processing, adhering to multiple deadlines.
  • Review and maintain position management records, ensuring accurate position details and reporting structure relationships.
  • Troubleshoot TLAM and support related activities to validate absences and resolve discrepancies or issues related to different absence types.
  • Assist with other areas of the HRIS, including payroll data entry, data integrity, transactions, and nonresident taxation.
  • Assist in the annual rollover process of absences to ensure that carry-over balances are calculated in accordance with university policy.
  • Identify, document, and report issues with the TLAM module. Analyze absence data to ensure accuracy and validate that system configurations work as expected.
  • Participate in projects and initiatives to enhance and improve the TLAM module. Document specifications for enhancements and fixes as needed.
  • Partner with other functional and technical subject-matter experts across the university to develop and test the specifications/functionality of the TLAM module.
  • Perform periodic system and time audits to monitor and ensure manager/employee compliance.
  • Create and run audit reports to analyze and ensure the university complies with current laws, regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and other internal policies.
  • Analyze patterns that require changes and/or updates to existing structured query language audits. Based on these trends, propose possible process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two to four years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in HR analytics, data analysis, or HRIS administration.
  • Ability to work with changing priorities and with multiple projects.
  • Certification related to HR analytics or data management.
  • Two to four years of related experience in HRIS and/or Payroll in higher education or other complex organizations.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft 9.2 or other HCM systems.
  • Experience with SQL and/or PS Query.
