ALDI Training & Development Generalist I - Instructional Designer in Naperville, Illinois

The Training & Development Generalist I is a part of the dynamic team focused on creating best-in-class leadership and performance training for ALDI employees and leaders. In this role, you will have opportunity to collaborate with field and national services leadership, program managers, and fellow training and development experts. You will be responsible for designing and developing instructional content and programs that support the leadership development and performance management. The ideal candidate has a passion for training and experience in creating engaging and interactive learning content and programs.

Position Type: Full-Time

Starting Wage: $36.25 per hour

This role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Collaborates with subject matter experts to determine learning needs and analyze learning gaps.

• Defines project scope, tasks and project plans. Monitors and tracks development progress, schedule, and timelines.

• Develops content in various formats, including but not limited to: Online (formal eLearning, videos, etc.) Instructor-led courses (in-person or virtual), Performance support resources (job aides), and Reference guides.

• Participates in the design and development of multiple Learning projects, and ensures the design is engaging, high-quality, and interactive.

• Identifies and recommends training and development opportunities that will assist employees in achieving enhanced performance and/or career objectives.

• Recommends process improvements for area of responsibility.

• Assists in the investigation, design, creation, and revision of employee development projects as requested.

• Serves as a point-of-contact for divisions and third-party partnerships regarding talent training and development.

• Provides ongoing assistance to users of employee development programs; develops and delivers user training and any relevant communication pieces regarding the programs.

• Understands ALDI competency models and amends current programs and materials to reflect these models as needed.

• Understands developing trends in the training and development industry and shares with their team and others in Human Resources.

• Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.

• Upholds the security and confidentiality of documents and data within area of responsibility.

• Other duties as assigned.

Job-specific Competencies:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Strong foundation in adult learning theory, and experience with advanced learning methodologies and technologies.

• Proficient in utilizing development software in the creation of engaging training materials and programs (e.g. Articulate 360, Vyond, Adobe Creative Cloud)

• Consistently demonstrates the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies and Professional Skills (M.A.P.) as outlined for the role.

• Gives attention to detail and follows instruction.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Effective time management; maximizes productivity.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or a related field required.

• A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Training & Development within a corporate environment required.

• Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

• Experience in the selection and administration of assessment tools and providing feedback on individual or group assessment data preferred.

• Experience with SharePoint, Learning Management Systems, and instructional design software preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Work may be performed in an office, remote office, or a combination of both where a computer and office equipment may be used as needed to perform duties.

• Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.

• Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.

• Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.

Travel:

• Minimal travel required as needed for job related duties such as training, project work and administrative tasks.
