Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer Tech I:Assists in preparation of quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps.Learns to use automated roadway programs, hydraulic design programs and/or interactive graphics.Performs basic drafting and calculations in support of design activities; copies detailed plans and drawings.Prepares field notes.Works on reproduction of plans.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportaton Engineer Tech II:The above, and:Assists in on-the-job training of less experienced technicians.Performs basic design workPerforms intermediate drafting and calculations in support of design activities; accomplishes non-routine and complex assignments.Prepares quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps.Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.Uses automated programs, interactive graphics and the Design and Construction Information System.Performs other duties as assigned.Transportation Engineer Tech III:The above, and:Learns additional automated design methods or specialized design procedures in areas including bridge/culvert detailing, traffic management, geometric design, signal/lighting design, retaining walls, and building design.Performs advanced drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features.Prepares environmental documents.Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.Uses automated programs, interactive graphics and the Design and Construction Information System.Writes general notes, specifications and provisionsPerforms other duties as assigned.
