Purpose of Role

The Customer Marketing Chain Manager creates a competitive advantage for Diageo Beer Company by collaborating, creating and communicating shopper marketing solutions for the Key Chain Customers such as Walmart, Kroger, Meijer, Total Wine & Target in the Off Premise Channel. This role provides the critical commercial linkage, knowledge and program support to the brand, innovation marketing teams to ensure brand standards, purpose, communications and programs are commercially sound, impactful and are grounded in deep shopper, retailer understanding.

Financial

The successful candidate will have access to and stewardship of a portion of the Chain and Trade Marketing Team A&P budget to support BTL agency and other 3rd party work in support of chain customer programming for the DBC Brands. The manager will have a T&E budget that they will properly manage to and use at their discretion to improve their agenda and impact in market.

Complexity

This role requires a well-rounded understanding of all category & chain segment data, insights and shopper/consumer, trade and market trends. The role needs to influence both internal & external partners across executive, marketing and sales functions to coordinate activity and consistency of outcomes

Leadership Responsibilities and Decision Making Rights

  • Oversees all commercial marketing/BTL planning and delivery of programs for key chain customers

  • Collaborates with brand/innovation, wider trade marketing/customer marketing, relevant Spirits Shopper & E-commerce team members and sales/activation organization to deliver brand activity and requirements

  • Provides critical input to Chain Marketing Programming and Market Share QBP sessions – leading commercial course correction where necessary

Top 3-5 Accountabilities

  • Delivers “fewer, bigger, better” brand activations that truly impact the brand performance in large format chain outlets – grow share and deliver financial and consumer imperatives

  • Every commercial touchpoint understands their role in supporting the Brand ‘Can Do’s’ in service of the Mission/Plan

  • Highly Capable in leading multiple dependent partners internally and externally; being the soul owner of the Chain Marketing Commercial Marketing Plans.

Q ualifications and Experience Required

  • 5+ years of CPG shopper marketing/commercial experience in a fast paced, shopper /consumer insight driven, matrixed environment with business planning, commercial strategy and BTL creative skills important. Comfort with change management and experience with customers (Bev Alc ideally) and the 3-Tier RTM across national account environments. Highly refined negotiation skills with proven track record of successful negotiation and delivery of annual promotional program with national customers or equivalent

  • Highly capable in managing multiple dependent partners internally and externally
